That was one retail client, and it followed an unusually clean technical start. What travels to every account is the method: find what is blocking retrieval, record an honest baseline on all four engines, then build the pages and the named coverage the engines actually pull from. We measure it against 9.8 million recorded brand mentions.
| Measure | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Named or not | Does this engine mention you on this question at all |
| Mention rate | How often across repeated asks, not a single lucky run |
| Position in answer | How early you appear once you are named |
| Engine gap | How many of the four name you, and which stay empty |
Reported per engine. Google AI Overviews names about 3.3 brands per answer against 6.1 to 7.2 on the chat engines, so the same absence means different things on different engines.
Buyers arrive asking to rank higher in AI. The honest answer is that the thing they are picturing does not exist, and the thing that replaced it is more winnable.
An answer names a few companies. Everyone else is simply absent.
Ask four engines and you get four largely different shortlists.
One line in robots.txt can remove you from an engine entirely.
The bot in your logs most often is the one that matters least.
The order is the method. Each step is wasted effort without the one before it, which is why we will not start writing pages in week one.
Read robots.txt the way each engine reads it, per agent, longest matching path first. Fix anything that removes you from an engine outright before measuring anything else.
Run your real buying questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and record who is named, how often, and how early. Per engine, never blended.
One page per question, answering it in the first paragraph, with schema so the facts are readable rather than inferred. Company and vendor pages take roughly 60% of commercial query citations.
Coverage where your company is named in the body text, not only linked. Branded mentions correlate 0.664 with AI visibility. An unlinked mention still counts and is invisible to every backlink tool.
Weekly reruns against the baseline, reporting which questions gained on which engine and which competitor took the position you wanted.
This is not run by a black box of tools. It is a team of Growth Architects who plan, build and optimize it, using AI where it accelerates the work and human judgment where it actually matters. Different specialists, one accountable team.

Not in the sense a rank tracker means. There is no ordered list of ten results. There is one answer that names a handful of companies, and the useful measurements are whether you are named at all, how often across repeated asks, and how early in the answer you appear. We report all three per engine rather than collapsing them into a position number that implies a list that does not exist.
The technical part can move the same day. A site that is accidentally blocking OAI-SearchBot cannot appear in ChatGPT search answers at all, and fixing that line changes eligibility immediately. The content and mention work compounds over months. One retail client went from 14% to 65% share of relevant AI answers in three weeks, which is the fast end and followed an unusually clean technical starting point.
Because they disagree. In our production data the three chat engines agree with each other about 11% of the time, and Google AI Overviews agrees with any of them around 1% of the time. Gemini and Google AI Overviews are both Google products and agree with each other no more than either agrees with a competitor's model. A single blended score averages four very different situations into one that is true of none of them.
Getting named on sources the engines retrieve from. Across 75,000 brands, branded web mentions correlate 0.664 with AI visibility, branded anchors 0.527 and backlinks 0.218. Total page count correlates 0.17, which is why publishing volume feels productive and rarely changes the answer. Company and vendor pages take roughly 60% of citations on commercial queries, so your own pages matter more here than in traditional SEO.
No. OpenAI states plainly that placement is not guaranteed, and any agency promising otherwise is describing something they do not control. What we commit to is finding and fixing the blocks, building the pages and mentions that correlate with being named, and measuring honestly enough that you can tell whether it worked.
A retrievability verdict per crawler, a four engine baseline across your real buying questions, and the named list of companies the engines return instead of you. That last one is usually the part that changes the internal conversation, because it is specific and anyone can check it in a minute.
We will run your category's buying questions through all four engines, check whether each one can retrieve your site, and send you the named list of companies being returned today. It takes us a few days and it is specific enough to check yourself.
